Important updates are being made to the Vertex specialty pharmacy network

At Vertex, patients are at the center of everything we do. That’s why Vertex continually evaluates its specialty pharmacy network to ensure it meets the needs of people who have been prescribed KALYDECO® (ivacaftor) or ORKAMBI® (lumacaftor/ivacaftor). After a rigorous review of various specialty pharmacies, Vertex has decided to update its network.

Beginning on August 1, 2017, CVS Specialty Pharmacy will no longer be part of the Vertex specialty pharmacy network. In addition, Maxor Specialty/IV Solutions/Pharmaceutical Specialties (PSI) has been added to the network.

Below are answers to some questions you may have. If you have any other questions, be sure to contact your patient's Vertex GPS Case Manager at 1-877-752-5933 (press 2).

  • Your patients can continue to receive their KALYDECO or ORKAMBI from CVS Specialty Pharmacy until July 31, 2017. Patients are encouraged to continue to refill with CVS Specialty Pharmacy until their prescription has been transitioned to the new pharmacy. Please take the time to remind your patients to call their Case Manager so we can help transfer their prescription before August 1, 2017
  • If your patients receive KALYDECO or ORKAMBI from CVS Specialty Pharmacy, your patients' Case Manager will notify them of this change and identify if there are any prescription or prior authorization requirements that will need your attention.

In an effort to keep you and your patients apprised along the way, your patients' Case Manager will be in contact by phone and also through other communications.
  • Your patients' Case Manager will help with this transition by:
  1. Identifying a specialty pharmacy within your patient or caregiver's network.
  2. Assisting in the transfer of KALYDECO or ORKAMBI prescriptions to the new specialty pharmacy once it has been selected.
  3. Communicating any new requirements along the way, including whether a new prescription or prior authorization is needed.
  4. Providing notifications and weekly communications to keep you informed.
  • Vertex GPS offers product support services for patients enrolled in the program. For those patients not enrolled in the program, we encourage you to reach out to them to understand which specialty pharmacy they would like to use. You can then contact the new pharmacy to ask them to transition the prescription from CVS Specialty Pharmacy. Alternatively, CVS Specialty Pharmacy may proactively contact patients to help them with the transition process

  • If your patients are interested in enrolling in Vertex GPS and they meet the eligibility criteria, you can download the enrollment form here

Enrollment in Vertex GPS is not required for patients to transition to one of the specialty pharmacies within the new network

  • We will be sharing reports with you that explain which of your Vertex GPS-enrolled patients are affected by this change and the status of their transition
